Guardian Rail Launches Cornhusker Railroad
New 27-mile shortline railroad provides BNSF and Union Pacific access in central Nebraska
COLUMBUS, OHIO – December 1, 2021 — Guardian Rail (“Guardian”) has launched the 27-mile Cornhusker Railroad (“CNRR”) in Grand Island, Nebraska and Hastings, Nebraska, with each branch offering dual BNSF and Union Pacific access. Guardian is one of the largest rail services companies in the U.S., and the CNRR represents the third shortline railroad in Guardian’s portfolio.
The CNRR currently serves two locations, and offers railcar storage, repair, and transloading. Additionally, several multi-hundred acre parcels are available for industrial development, with a myriad of state and local economic incentives attached. “The CNRR would be the perfect location for agriculture, fertilizer, renewable fuels, or material staging for energy, pipelines, or transportation. The sites offer high-volume electricity and natural gas access, ample space for large-scale development, and local access to Interstate 80,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Casey Guardian.
